Lecturer: Dr. Stefania-Alexandra Iakab, CeMOS Mannheim, Mannheim University of Applied Sciences: the combination of MALDI Imaging and computational 3D-reconstruction for the analysis of 3D-cell cultures (spheroids, organoids) in clinical and pharmaceutical applications
There is a consistent interest in applying 3D cell culture models for pharmacological research and drug screening. However, evident technological hurdles that are due to the three-dimensional design of the models have to be addressed. These range from the establishment of the appropriate model system for a given purpose, the need for making the tested models amenable for acute drug testing, as well as for whole mount staining and imaging, the choice of appropriate markers for morphological, functional, and molecular assessment of drug effects, and the quantitative analysis of the retrieved data.
This presentation gives an overview on achievements within M2Aind that are pertinent to these challenges.
