Impulses in important innovation topics
With regard to R & D, the innovation partnership "M2Aind - Multimodal analytics and intelligent sensors in the healthcare industry", which was launched in 2017, is one of the youngest lighting tower projects. With "M2Aind", the university brings together 37 partners from the large-scale healthcare industry as well as innovative small and medium-sized companies from the Rhine-Neckar-Main region. The research and work focus of the partnership is at the interface between biomedicine and information technology. M²Aind's goal is to develop new products and services for the pharmaceutical, chemical, medical device, biotech and diagnostics industries using technology-linked technology platforms. It uses highly integrated applications with a wide range of application possibilities in IT-supported process and product analysis as well as state-of-the-art optical measurement technology. The focus is on u. a. drug testing and safety, drug discovery in tumors, and the search for sugar substitutes. The more than six-million-euro BMBF joint project will initially be funded by the end of 2020 as part of the program "Research at Universities of Applied Sciences". It creates employment for 22 people. Professors from four faculties are involved in the high school.

The research project M²Aind (Multimodal Analytics and Intelligent Sensing for the Healthcare Industry) is a public-private partnership project under the leadership of the Mannheim University of Applied Sciences, which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and was launched in January 2017. From the beginning BRAIN has been an active partner in the M²Aind network. Joint projects of BRAIN and Mannheim University of Applied Sciences include the development of a skin model in 3D to better understand the physiology of the skin with the aim of opening up new application possibilities in the health and cosmetics industry.
